Predictions for Cyberattacks in 2007

This article from CNN predicts cyberattack trends for 2007. Most of the attacks expected are no surprise at all. For example, exploits against vulnerable web clients that visit social networking sites such as MySpace.com has already happened this year, and there's no reason why it should stop next year. Why should the attacker think of something else when it is fairly easy to exploit vulnerabilities in web clients? An earlier post we made shows that the highly touted IE7 is already vulnerable to some of the most popular malware.

Overall, the security community still has a lot of work to do when it comes to proactive detection of client-side attacks. We should definitely expect increasing numbers of 0-day exploits for client applications in 2007.
